The month of November has been designated as “Community Engagement Month” by the Oakwood University Church and Breath of Life Television Ministries. Each Tuesday of November a community need will be facilitated and addressed by the church. For the first Tuesday, November 3, our community emphasis started with a bang as the church served as a voting precinct for “Election Day.” While record numbers turned out across the United States to vote in this year’s election, it was no different at the Oakwood University Church. Our Family Life Center, the venue for voting, serves as the largest voting precinct in the State of Alabama, and on November 3, nearly 3,000 voters cast their ballots. The lines were very long early, but by midday, wait times were very limited with a steady flow of voters throughout the remainder of the day. The Oakwood University Church was proud to serve the community, and looks forward to next Tuesday, November 10, for the second community initiative which will be the administering of flu shots in partnership with Walgreens Pharmacy, and a food distribution for community residents from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Oakwood University Church would like to thank local law enforcement, community organizers, and the fine citizens of Huntsville, AL, for making “Election Day” a tremendous success!
